Case Overview:
- 2-year-old girl seen in 1979 with total urinary incontinence and a loop colostomy performed at birth in South America
Follow Up:
- Patient was dry with the colon urinary conduit and continent of stool
- Family could not return for further surgery because of difficult governmental restraints
- At age 14, laparotomy performed with removal of pelvic cystic structures (unknown originally)
- Later, the colon urostomy was converted to a catheterizable pouch, which was done 8 times daily
- Patient was dry
- At age 15, renal transplant (mother’s kidney) was performed
- Bowel control remained satisfactory
- Patient menstruated
