Case Overview:
- 18-month-old female patient with unusual cloaca
- Colostomy for imperforate anus and thoracotomy for esophageal atresia at birth
Follow Up:
- The patient’s childhood was normal, with eventually normal urinary control and bowel control
- Vesicoureteral reflux was evident and the ureter was reimplanted elsewhere
- She is now 33 years old and menstrual periods are normal
- She has chosen not to become pregnant, because her renal function is about 50% of normal values
- She is followed by a nephrologist
- She considers her life to be normal
